There is quite big unitary state which is located in the southern part of Central Europe and called Ukraine. There are 24 provinces that called “oblast” are comprised into that country, but there are also 2 urban areas that are considered to be separate provinces: the capital of Ukraine – Kiev and Sevastopol. Ukraine has a semi-presidential republic. It has set after an orange revolution in December 2004. The current type of power is more democratic that the previous one. Now the country is controlled not by the one person, but by several branches of authority. Ukraine borders on Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, Moldova and Hungary form the west, Turkey form the south; the Russian border is the longest one it is from North and East. The country is in the main treeless plain with mountains in the Crimea and low Carpathian Mountains. The imaginary line which is considered to be the border between the eastern and the western parts of the country is river Dnieper. Owing to the river Ukraine has the most of its hydroelectric power. Ukraine has got a quite mild climate, so the winters are not so cold here but some rivers and lakes are usually covered by ice. The rain is frequently observed in summer usually but in general, summers are quite dry.

Thanks to favorable terms, Ukraine is known for its quality soils and significantly developed agriculture. Ukraine is considered to be one of the largest exporters of sugar. In general, the country develops a lot of produce: maize, corn, vegetables, fruit, etc. Kiev is a quite old city and it is the metropolis of Ukraine. Even nowadays we can see some buildings dated 5th century there. This city is simply amazing. All the Slavic civilizations rose from that city. It was established as a small trade settlement but it has developed into the fabulous modern megapolis. The decrease of development of Kiev was caused by the Mongolian incursion in the 13th century, the city was completely demolished for a quite long period. However, industrial revolution assisted the city regain conspicuousness. In period of the Soviet Union Kiev became the capital of Ukrainian Soviet Republic. Today the population of Kiev is about 3 million people. According to the censuses the population is rapidly growing year by year. Most of population is Ukrainians and Russians, but there is a great deal of different ethnic groups which live there for several hundreds years. During the 70s and 80s, the city saw constant growth in population that in turn reflected in the improvement of real estate. After the independence there created new condominiums, expensive restaurants and five star hotels.

Ukraine economics gains power after the period of post Soviet troubles. Today Ukraine is very respectable country which is known not as a part of the Soviet Union, but as autonomous country. All the countries included into WTO are willingly inviting Ukraine to become a member of this union.
